The Independent Center Voice today announced its projection that the 2026 midterm cycle is shaping up to host the largest number of independent candidates running for elected office in American history. This surge reflects a fundamental shift in the American electorate, where voters are increasingly rejecting the extreme polarization of the two major parties and seeking pragmatic representation.
"The rise of the Independent isn't just a polling trend; it's a movement of citizens stepping up to run for office," said Adam Brandon, Co-Founder of Independent Center Voice. "For the first time, we are seeing viable independent candidates filing in districts across the country - candidates whose common-sense platforms are resonating with the neglected majority."
To educate voters on this historic wave of candidates, IC Voice will soon launch a major expansion of its website dedicated to these races. The updated platform will feature candidate introductions and comprehensive profiles to help the public stay educated and engaged. This resource will shine a spotlight on these candidates, providing the transparency and information necessary to ensure all American voices and views are represented in Congress, as our democracy was set up to do.
The following is a brief list of some of the independent candidates currently running for Governor, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House across the nation.
